JOHN GUTT COMMITS TO UTICA COLLEGE

by Michael Lehr

Utica Junior Comet John Gutt has committed to play college hockey at Utica College. The Middletown, NJ native is in his third year with the program, and has scored 9 goals and 25 assists.

“I am very excited to make my commitment to Utica College official,” Gutt said, “I have worked extremely hard for this opportunity and am ready for what Utica College has to offer. I would like to thank Coach Educate for an unforgettable experience over the last three seasons as he has pushed me to be better and helped me develop as a person and player.

After a lot of consideration and having talked to Coach Heenan and Coach Therrien, I knew I wanted to stay in Utica and play for one of the best programs in college hockey. They provide a pro-like experience and atmosphere and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of that. “

I would like to thank my family for all of their support throughout my hockey career. They have been nothing but the best and I know they really excited for me to get started.

Gutt’s head coach had a lot to say about him, “John is a 3rd year player for our organization. He started his first season with our Premier team where he was a standout player in the league. The last two seasons he has played for our NCDC team and has played an impact role. Last season he was amongst the league leaders in points and is following it up with another great season this year.

It’s great to have a player pave the path for other players. That's what John has done and why he is a captain for our team. He has shown you can develop at the Tier III level and make the jump to the tier II level and have a very successful Jr career doing so. It’s been great to see John develop both on and off the ice in these past three seasons. He will continue to grow at Utica College where he find success on the ice and in the classroom. I am very excited to watch John over the next several seasons.”
