Walter Baumann Commits to Salve Regina
Utica Junior Comet Walter Baumann has committed to Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. In his third season in utica, Baumann has scored 14 goals and tallied 14 assists in 39 games.
"My three years at Utica has shown me a lot," Baumann said. "It has shown me how hard you have to work to earn a spot on the team, and I can apply that to anything in life. I’ve been honored to be a leader on the team my final year as we work for a playoff spot. I would like to thank coach Lou and Lynch for believing in me as a player and putting me in the right spot to succeed. I want to thank all my coaches throughout the years, all my family for the countless support, and my teammates that help me produce."
Head Coach Louis Educate said watching Baumann grow for three seasons has been incredible. "Every year he has produced at a high level with the ability to score at any time. Which makes me believe he will find success right away on the ice at Salve."
"I’m excited to further my career at Salve Regina," Baumann continued. "They’re a strong program and I’m ready to earn my spot on the team. Their campus is sweet, right on the bay in Newport and reminds me of home. Wouldn’t want to spend my four years at college anywhere else.
"Walt has been a great Captain for this group," Educate said. "Helping lead the younger guys on and off the ice. Having this experience as a captain will also benefit him going into school having those leadership qualities that teams are looking for.
