Utica Jr. Comets Partner With SpeedSkills to Add Skills Training In 2024-25 Season

by David Herman

UTICA, NY - The Utica Jr. Comets are excited to announce that the organization will be partnering with SpeedSkills Hockey to add a new level of skills training into the 2024-25 season.

Teams will get the chance to participate in an ice session with Director of SpeedSkills Hockey, Mike Radja, on their designated skills week. The bulk of the SSH curriculum is centered around teaching the fundamentals of skating and puck control. This experience will allow players to strengthen their confidence and competence in the game of hockey.

Mike Radja’s background includes playing from youth to the pro levels, earning 1st Team All-American and First Team All Star honors while playing for the University of New Hampshire (UNH). He also logged nine years of professional hockey in the AHL, ECHL, and overseas in Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom. He represented USA Hockey on the international stage on 2 occasions.

With this new opportunity, the Utica Jr. Comets will continue to improve and strengthen their role as a top-level, Tier 1 program. The Jr. Comets are grateful to the Oneida County Sports Council for facilitating this partnership and are excited to work with SpeedSkills in the upcoming season.
