by Ethan Siderine

Utica, N.Y. - The Utica Jr. Comets 2012 AAA team is looking forward to fielding one of the top 2012 teams in the Mohawk Valley. The team is open to all players born in 2012 and players can expect an exciting competitive schedule against some of the best teams in New York State and the entire North East.

Head coaches, Justen Fazekas & Bryan Hluska, are excited to help players develop their game and compete at a high level. Both coaches bring a wealth of knowledge to the team on and off the ice. Hluska worked closely with former pro hockey player, Tim Sestito, with the world renowned Power Edge Pro (PEP). PEP, used by some of the world's top hockey players such as Connor McDavid and Taylor Hall and Hluska’s expertise of PEP will help the 2012 team become a highly skilled group of players.

“We are looking to build a competitive team to play together while also concentrating on each player’s individual skills,” said Hluska.

Fazekas, a hockey player his whole life, also coached a number of teams. Along with his on-ice knowledge, Fazekas is a International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) certified personal trainer with specialization in Advanced Youth Fitness and Off-Ice Hockey training programs. Fazekas finds it important to teach the kids much more than just hockey. As a former U.S. Air Force pilot, Fazekas preaches building character, achieving goals, and developing the ability to persevere through any obstacle, mental or physical.

“I am excited and confident entering the 2021 Fall season. The past year has offered a lot of insight into the talent and passion that the 2012 players in this area bring to the table. As a coach there’s nothing more rewarding than harnessing that passion and turning it into many successful seasons to come,” said Fazekas.

Along with a well balanced coaching staff, players can look forward to multiple ice sessions a week, fun-filled tournaments (fees included in registration) and an exciting 50-55 game schedule. Tryouts will be held at the Adirondack Bank Center, April 27 and April 29, 5:00pm-5:50pm. Players interested in trying out should register by clicking here.
