Utica Jr. Comets 2010 AAA Team Secures Spot in New York State AAA Championships
For the third year in a row, the Utica Jr. Comets 2010 AAA team has punched its ticket to the New York State AAA Championships, set to take place in Buffalo, NY, from March 14–16.
The Comets earned their spot after a stellar weekend performance against the Syracuse Nationals 2010 AAA, defeating them in back-to-back games with scores of 5–4 on Saturday and 4–2 on Sunday.
Saturday Game Recap
On Saturday, the Comets found the back of the net five times in a hard-fought battle in Cicero at the MACC. Connor Weiman got things started with a beautiful shot from the point. Matthew McCraith and Jake Hall each added two goals to round out the scoring. Assists came from Connor Weiman (2), Miles Mendiola, Jake Hall, and Nicholas Sans, showcasing a full team effort.
Sunday Game Recap
Sunday’s matchup saw Utica dominate much of the game, sealing the weekend sweep with a 4–2 victory. Jake Hall continued his hot streak with two goals, while Connor Weiman and Miles Mendiola each added one. Key assists came from Jack Heenan, Matthew McCraith, Nicholas Sans, and Grady Symenow.
The Jr. Comets’ determination and teamwork have earned them a well-deserved spot in Buffalo, where they will compete against the best AAA teams in the state.
