Last week, the Utica Jr. Comets announced a merger with the Syracuse Stars that, for the first time in the history of Central New York, allows for players to remain and grow within the same youth program from Mites through NCDC (tuition free juniors).

The Jr. Comets will field five teams competing in the highly competitive United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). At the junior levels, an NCDC and a Premier team. At the youth level U15, U16 and U18 teams. 

The USPHL is uniquely positioned to facilitate a clear path way for players graduating from Bantam who are looking to progress through Midget and Junior Hockey on to college and professional hockey. Each division provides a critical step in the progression to fulfilling a player’s ultimate goal of becoming a collegiate or professional hockey player.

The Jr. Comets will hold an NCDC Early Bird try-out April 6-7 at Meachem Ice Arena in Syracuse, NY. The cost for this tryout is only $99. REGISTER HERE! 

A second opportunity for players to try-out for the Jr. Comets NCDC and Premier teams will come during the May Pre-Draft Camp, held May 7-9 in the Utica area. Following camp, the Jr. Comets will send multiple Midget and Junior teams to the USPHL May Pre-Draft Showcase, held on May 10-12 in Marlborough, Mass.

The Jr. Comets will host their Main Camp on July 9-11. This camp will be open to all players with birth years falling between 1999 and 2004. This camp will also be followed by an USPHL Showcase, also held in Marlborough, Mass., on July 12-14. More details on each of these camps to follow.

Our 18U team will play a full season with an approximate 55-game schedule. They will be Tier 1 National tournament bound. The team will continue to be based out of the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, NY.

Tryouts for this team will be held on April 10 from 8:10pm to 9:10pm and April 11 from 8:10pm to 9:10pm at Adirondack Bank Center. Click here to register now! 

Also based out of Utica, NY, will be the 16U team, coached by former professional player, Adam Pawlick. This team will be open to all 2003 and 2004 birth years. They will also play an approximate 55-game schedule, and compete in the USPHL, and be Tier I National tournament bound.

The Jr. Comets 15U team will be based out of Syracuse, NY and coached by Jamie Sasenbury. This team is open to 2004 birth year players only. The U-15s will be a split season team, playing approximately 35 games in the USPHL. This team will be Tier 1 National tournament bound.

The Jr. Comets' Midget program is intended to allow players a clear developmental path directly to the NCDC.
