JUNIOR COMETS FORWARD SUZUKI JOINS JAPAN FOR WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

Utica, NY. — The Utica Jr. Comets are proud to announce that forward, Fuji Suzuki, will join Team Japan in this year’s World Junior Championship tournament.

Suzuki, 18, hails from Japan, and joined the Utica Jr. Comets last season playing 15 games scoring two goals and two assists for four points. This season, the 5-foot-11, 160-pound forward leads the Jr. Comets NCDC squad with 25 points, including 10 goals and 15 assists in 21 games played.

Head Coach, Louis Educate is thrilled for Fuji to have this opportunity to represent his country.

“Fuji joined us for the last 15 games last season as our youngest player to get a taste of JR hockey in the United States. This season when Fuji came back to Utica from Japan it was clear that he was going to be a dominant player in the league. His skating ability, ability to change speeds on a dime combined with his ability to make plays is very high end for such a young age. He has flourished with us here in Utica and as a staff we are thankful to be a small part of his success. Our staff and Fuji's teammates couldn't be more excited for Fuji to play in such a great tournament as the WJC and represent his home country of Japan. Playing for your country is the greatest honor there is. I can't wait to watch as I know he will be a very important player for their country.”
