Jr. Comets U16 Girls Team Advances to States

The Utica Jr. Comets 16U girls team earned the Central Section’s bid to the New York State tournament after defeating the CNY Bobcats and Oswego.

 

The young Comets team has relied on strong goaltending, a bend-without-break defense, and an opportunistic offense. The roster is comprised of seventeen players with talent coming together from twelve different hometowns. Sophomore standout goaltender Emily Payne was named Section 3 Goalie of the Year and First Team All-League for the 2023-24 high school season.

 

The Comets open tournament play on Friday, March 8 in Amherst against Brewster.
