Jr. Comet Brendan Kennedy Commits to Babson
Utica Jr. Comet Brendan Kennedy has committed to play NCAA hockey at Babson College. In 49 games with the NCDC team this year, he posted 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points.
"Playing in Utica this year was an incredible experience, especially coming from Canada to a new team, everyone from coach Educate and Lynch to my teammates were very welcoming," said Kennedy. "Although coming short in the playoffs, I felt that this group accomplished a lot and I wouldn’t have rather spent my last year of junior hockey with any other group. "
Louis Educate said Kennedy was a great addition to the team this year, "Coming off a season with not much hockey being played he was eager to step right into a pivotal role for our team. With his great neutral zone speed and ability to create space for others he was a go to player for us all season."
Kennedy continued to express his eagerness to join Babson "I am very excited to become part of such a prestigious program at Babson and play for Coach Rice and Gaudet while getting a world-class education.
The campus seemed like a perfect fit for me being on the smaller side yet being only 15 minutes away from downtown Boston, I felt like I would get both the small-school and big city experience in one. Along with a great rink on campus Babson seemed like the perfect fit for me. There’s an endless amount of people I have to thank for this opportunity including my friends, teammates, family, coaches, and most importantly my parents for all their support."
Educate knows that Kennedy has the skills to succeed at the next level. "Brendan is a very smart kid who has the tools to be successful on and off the ice. Babson is getting a very good hockey player along with a great person. Brendan will have a lot of success at Babson on and off the ice. I'm excited to see where he progresses the next few years."
