
FORMER JR . COMET CAM WHITEHEAD MAKES PRO DEBUT
Former Utica Jr. Comets goalie Cameron Whitehead had his Professional debut this past Friday.
Cameron was drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights in the fourth round (128th overall) of the 2022 NHL draft.
On Friday, April 11th, Whitehead started his first professional game with the Henderson Silver Knights, AHL affiliate of the Golden Knights. He saved 20 of 22 shots giving him a .909 save percentage.
Whitehead spent the 2020-2021 season with the Utica Jr. Comets posting impressive numbers helping him cement his spot in the USHL playing for the Lincoln Stars, and in turn committing to Northeastern University.
Whitehead, 21, recently completed his second season at Northeastern University, playing in 35 of the team’s 37 games. He posted a .911 save percentage and a 2.74 goals-against average, helping lead the Huskies to the 2025 Hockey East Semifinals. Along the way, he played a key role in upsetting top-seeded Boston College before the team was eliminated by the University of Maine. As a freshman, Whitehead made a strong impact, recording the fifth-most shutouts (4), eighth-most wins (17), and ninth-best save percentage (.917) in a single season in program history. Over his two-year NCAA career with Northeastern, the goaltender appeared in 70 games, compiling a .914 save percentage, a 2.68 GAA, and five shutouts.
