JR. COMETS 2010 AAA TEAM WILL REPRESENT CNY REGION IN TIER 1 NYS TOURNAMENT

UTICA, NY - This past weekend, the Utica Jr. Comets 2010 AAA team punched their ticket to represent the Central New York region in the U12 division at the Tier 1 New York State tournament in Buffalo next month. On Sunday morning, the Jr. Comets put up 59 shots but ended up tying the Syracuse Nats 2010 team 1-1. In a crucial rematch in Syracuse Sunday afternoon, the Jr. Comets re-grouped and found the back of the net 4 times in a big 4-0 shutout win. The Comet’s relentless forecheck coupled with their puck-possession and stout defense ultimately settled the game as they finally solved the Nat’s netminder.

The Jr. Comets look to continue their late season surge as they face challenging back-to-back matchups against the Westchester Express and the Amherst Knights this weekend. They also have a double header tilt next weekend vs. Wilkes out of Pennsylvania and the high powered Woodbridge Wolfpack out of New Jersey. They will then head to the Quebec Pee-Wee Major International Tournament in Quebec City for 10 days in February as a final tune-up before the NYS tournament.

The 2010 AAA team has come a long way this season and are starting to gel at the right time. Their main focus points will be continuity, confidence and puck movement going forward and hope to peak at the right time. The state tournament will be a great experience for the 2010 team and coaching staff and they are looking forward to the challenge.
