Drafted 82nd Overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1998, Brian Gionta played 16 seasons in the NHL, even serving as the captain of the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres.
During the 2017-18 season, Gionta stepped away from the NHL in order to captain Team USA for the 2018 Winter Olympics. He returned to the Boston Bruins for the remainder of the season and announced his retirement shortly after. Currently, Gionta serves as a development coach for the Buffalo Sabres.
